The Outback is nestled in the heart of South Dakota's Most Prolific Ringneck Population. Lodging is conveniently located on the century old family farm and ranch located in Gregory County, South Dakota. You will literally walk from the lodge to the some of the fields, allowing more time to hunt and less time driving. You can have an enjoyable hunt in a relaxed atmosphere with true South Dakota hospitality.
Rolling countryside, known as the Missouri breaks, is the transition zone where the plains fall off into the valley of the Missouri River. Hills are intertwined with row crops, pastures and steep, heavily wooded creek bottoms. All of that combined with shelter belts and annually planted food plots, provides top-notch pheasant habitat. Our land-management practice forms habitat that is tailor-made for pheasants and other wildlife to thrive.
Lodging is in the historic homestead house, the first section of which was built near the turn of the 19th century. The lodge has 5 bedrooms (10 beds) with a full kitchen, 2 1/2 baths and laundry facilities. From the lodge you'll see some of the day to day workings of the ranch, bag your limit of roosters early, and you might even have time to help move cows in the afternoon! If you play your cards right and grandma might even make you some pie with homemade whipped cream!
